Born and raised in the East African country of Kenya in one of the sprawling suburbs in the capital Nairobi. He started his musical career during his teenage years, having his first break at the age of 17, making him one of the youngest acts at the time.

Over the last ten years, the name Vinnie Banton has become synonymous with East African Urban music, stemming from the popularity of his hit singles. Having initially started out as part of a group (Vinnie Banton & Mr. Googs), he has been able to reinvent himself into one of the top Afro Dancehall Reggae acts in Africa.
